JJ DID TIE BUCKLE

Today just like any other day for me meant getting online and searching through my many subscriptions, and feeds, and news updates, and the list goes on of the many sources that I use just to try and keep a perspective of what is going on in the world today.

I now know just how ignorant and oblivious I used to be. Before I started getting online and doing my own research I really had no idea what was going on in the world. I have come to realize just a few things, and it didn't take me long.

One thing I can say is that if you don't personally take an initiative and become aware of the events going on around you, very few, if any at all people, will make it their problem to inform you. Each person has got to be responsible for his and her own knowledge. No longer children being forced to sit and listen to the teacher talk about history and science, but adults who have the responsibility of making decisions that will go on to effect others for years and years to come. That is why it is important for any one who is able and willing, to take responsibility for what they know, to share it with others who are willing to listen, and to ask questions when the answer is not up front.

Another thing I have become sure of, is that watching the television news is not enough. The media does a good job of spreading rumors and letting people know that something is up, but hardly if ever does report on the facts. But don't believe me, I encourage any one to do their own experiment and take information from a few different sources other than the television. There is sure to be an abundance of information else where that has not been made public via the t.v news or newspapers.

One more thing I will say that I can't help but realize, and just one more for now, is how late the news alerts and important information has been making it out to the public, despite the fact that t.v news can be seen just about every other hour on every other channel. It seems we are the last to know of things and only because it has already happened or is happening now. Just a few examples:

Haiti
Ice lands glaciers
The earthquakes
The meteor showers

With today's technology, we knew these things were coming long before they happened, yet the public was only made aware of these things during and after the facts.

These coming to my attentions have caused me to become the investigator, the reporter, and the pupil. There are just so many things going on these days, and the days are going by faster than ever. The only ones who will see any positive differences to come are the ones who try for it. No one wants to be left behind.
